We spent the day at Atkinson Dam today, where Mick and the girls went in the canoe and paddled to the other side and played in the water. They all had a ball, and we were lucky with the weather, except for a bit of wind every now and then that made it hard for Mick to paddle! We then headed off and had lunch in the park before heading home. After the usual jobs of cleaning up etc that you do when you arrive home from a day out, I decided to bake a slice that was on my friend Catherine's blog, http://atimetocreate.blogspot.com . I made the chocolate weetbix slice, and I am sure it did'nt turn out like hers! Apart from sustituting brown sugar for raw sugar, it just did'nt make it! It is still yummy and we ate it, but I hope for a better outcome next time!! Just to make it clear, it was my cooking not Catherines!!

"Hoppy Christmas"

This is a wall hanging I made today, for some relatives who live in England. It is a little different how they had it in "Creating Country Threads", different color, my hanging tabs are different, etc but I find I cant follow patterns too well! They give me a great starting point and lots of inspiration, but I go off and do my own thing in a way and refer back to the mags if needed! Still have lots to learn, but at least my stitching is getting better - I am really happy with this, and I hope our rellies will love this piece of aussie christmas! Apart from stitching, and being with the family, I have started doing a LO, my first one in months!!! Making xmas cards took up a lot of time, as does the sewing, but I was itching to get a LO done, so when I saw Stick n Giggle had their monthly challenge packs out I thought I'd get one to get me going! Have almost finished and will upload when i can. Missed scrapbooking! Am off now, after the rain and heat we have had the little bugs are out and nipping me while I sit here. Will try to get back on here soon and not leave so long between posts. Thanks for looking :)

What I have been up to....

Well scrapping has taken a back seat lately and I have busy with other things. As you can see I have made my xmas cards already. I rarely do this and end up with only a few handmade ones, so I got in early! I have used papers and card from work, and also tried my hand at using Flowersoft. This is really cool to use and I love the effect it gives (See the 2 cards at top).

This is another project - unfinished, but I thought I'd share it. I struggle with back and blanket stitch, it drives me crazy but I keep going! I know I will get the hang of it one day, and I really love how good it looks - on other peoples work!! So here I just need to add a strip to the sides, and then do the back and add some hanging tabs. This one is going up on my wall, and is my take on a pattern from the recent "Creating Country Threads" magazine.

This little sheep is for my mother-in-law for christmas, as she loves sheep, and when I saw it in an old copy of "Country Craft and Decorating" I knew I had to make it! I have used different colors, and as you can see the stitches are'nt the best, but it is one of my better tries! To finish this off I just need to frame it.
